Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Files randomly deleted from my PC?

    I've never encountered this before.

Basically I've a 'downloaded files' folder which everything I download from the net goes into automatically. Rather then using whatever the browsers use by default.

So anyway it was packed full of stuff dating back nearly 2 years. I downloaded a file just there, and went into the folder to move it to where I wanted it, only to notice there was only 5 files in the entire folder. The file I just downloaded (an mp3) and files I had downloaded yesterday (mods for a game) everything else is gone  I checked my recycle bin and theres no indication of any accidental mass deletion.

I'm running a virus scan as I type this.

    WTF?

Accorded to windows my 'downloaded files' folder was only created on the 27th when in fact I made it 2 years ago.

Have you created a new profile on the machine. Like a new account? Might be saving to c\docs and settings\<new user a/c> instead of where you'd usually find them.

Do the files come up in a wildcard search? (using parts of the filename with asterixes).

There'd be no reason that a file would suddenly delete itself. Most AV softwares will prompt you before taking any action on a file!

Try some data recovery software, like Recuva,GetDataBack or R-studio. Don't create any new files, and copy any items found that you want to a different drive.

You must have accidently hit enter before you typed the "orn" at the end. :D

Actually, most of the time I have got a call about a deleted file/folder it has been moved or renamed. Accidently deleting a file is rare, but renaming/moving is too easy to do.
