Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    True!

Really would have loved if he had kept Berbatov on instead of Diouf and brought on Hernandez...

Diouf doesn't really impress me at all tbh. Can't see him lasting much longer.

well no result doesnt matter too much.

agree 100% on diouf, was saying to HS that he doesnt look like hes good enough for us. he should be way down the pecking order

Ideally we won't relay on him too much with vidic, evans and O'shea ahead of him. That's assuming the injury jinx stays away this year"

no we hope but its hard to know whether SAF would put him in ahead of JOS and wes should or when we get injuries

Macheda and Welbeck are like men possessed up there!

    I frickin' love it! :D

Cleverley wants everything he can get. Looks like he is gonna be a very useful player. Fegie, hold onto him!

Good by Smalling not to dive into a tackle there and not get fooled either. Good work.

Bit of luck helped it along the way but lovely stuff by Welbeck and Cleverley. So impressed with them! Nice left foot to slot that away from Nani too...

  • Registered Users Posts: 623 ✭✭✭Shy_Dave!

Ha, almost another set piece conceded

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,951 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

Sweet Jesus but we're terrible at set pieces!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,164 ✭✭✭Cypher_sounds

Nani seems to have started from where he left off at the end of last season, really good to see

again i wouldnt worry too much about this preseason

when you chuck in vds/rio for their organisation we should be ok + Vida statistically heads away 95.7% of set pieces

One thing about Smalling is that he seems composed enough on the ball. He's not afraid to take that extra touch rather than hoof it up.

yup we must hope he can maintain form for the season. if he fires like he can then he a real weapon. good with both feet, can cross well and has some goals in him. its a real shame though that he plays best from the right where we have valencia who is steady.

That's true, but doesn't mean it can be ignored.

Rafael panicking at the last moment there...

What a rubbish game. TF half our players are missing and it's pre-season.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,164 ✭✭✭Cypher_sounds

good workout for the fringe players, not much else can be said about that :o

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,951 ✭✭✭✭Mars Bar

    Ach, slightly anti-climatic.

Positives: Chicharito is a fantastic buy. Cleverley had a solid game again. Macheda and Welbeck were really lively when they came on. Fabio got through a full 90 mins.

Negatives: That defending from set pieces ain't gonna win no reserve league this season if they don't sort it quickly! I'm screwed from a lack of sleep! :pac:

i remember a few seasons back we were rubbish on set pieces and in general defending in pre-season, but once we got all our players back and the season started, we got back on track and were as good as we had ever been.

Hopefully it will be the same this time round, cause we need a vast improvement from the lads.
