Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What's the best way for me to clean an unidentified smudge of a dSLR lens? Or, would they do it for me for free if I brought it into a shop?

You can clean it yourself quite easily. Lenses need to be
handled carefully, but they aren't that delicate. Use a
blower or a very light dusting with a soft cloth to knock
off any loose dust. This is to make sure there aren't
any hard particles of sand or metal on the glass before
you clean it. Then use a soft clean cloth to clean the lens.
The traditional way is to fog up the kens by breathing on
it and then clean it with a soft cloth. I prefer to use optical
    lens cleaning wipes from Aldi:

Are you sure the dirt is on the lens and not on the sensor?

If the Dirt is sharp and in the same place on each frame its on the sensor. (my speciality) if you can see it in the viewfinder but not on the pictures its on the mirror or focussings screen. if you can see the dirt on the lens chances are it is hard to see it on the pictures, other than as flare, clean carefully as above.
