Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Getting Word on my laptop

I've only got a trial of Word on my laptop, and I can only use it twice more without entering a 'Product Key'. I have no idea what/where this product key is... My laptop is a Lenovo that I bought online from them, any idea if Word usually comes with these laptops or do you have to buy it seperate?

Sorry I'm a complete retard when it comes to computers, so if anyone can tell me:

    - Where can I locate my product key?

    - If it's not possible to get it, then how much does Word cost and how do I go about getting it onto my computer?

    Thanks

Its probably a trial of the Home and Student edition in which case you can buy a copy either online or in a shop e.g. Tescos, DID etc and enter the product key.

I think the price ranges from 79 to 119 for the home and student edition, as I said it depends on where you buy it.

Or you could download Open Office and see if that suits you. It is a free office suite that is compatible with office documents. Download here

Your laptop might have MS Works on it which is a slim downed version of Word & Excel.... that might suit you....check your programmes list.

Download Open Office. Open source free and does everything that MS Office can do.

If you're a student or a family member is a student, you can get MS Office cheap here.

Are student editions restricted in any way, branded "Student" or are they the full blown versions?

The student versions are full unrestricted versions of the programs, the only restriction on them is in the licence as they are for "non-commercial" use by students (any type of student).

I have bought several products from software4students.ie over the years and have saved a lot of money as a result. They are a Microsoft approved supplier and are even linked to from microsoft.com

At the moment you can get the full Professional-Plus version of Office 2010 for 64.95.

I wouldn't touch Openoffice with a 10-foot pole as it is very unpolished and not as user-friendly as Microsoft Office.

The only problem with buying from Software4students is that it can take a few days to arrive, if you are in a rush or don't have a credit card, you can buy a product key for Office 2010 Home and Student for around 99 euro in any major computer store eg PC World
