Hypothetical question, lets say a guy is going off for a weekend break up north. If someone brought along their gun licence and a euro firearms pass could this made up person purchase ammo and bring it back across the border legally.
    Here's hoping.:)

    Nope.

To the best of my knowledge, you need a visitor's certificate from the PSNI. Form 30-38 is available here, though it needs to be submitted by a resident in the north.

EDIT: Eventually, when both the Irish and UK governments get their collective heads out of their collective arses we'll be able to travel over and back using a European Firearms pass.

Agreed. BUT it's not just the IR/UK govts, it the @~@~ing lot of them. Shooting elsewhere in EU you need equivalent forms - just because you can drive over de border makes it seem more unfair.

That "nasty little man" [as quoted in yesterdays Indo by Mike Noonan FG].and his cohorts should have been run out of town on a rail by the Irish people 12/24 months ago. Wonder when we will be all arsed enough to do somthing about the "state" of the nation?

You will need a visitors license to purchase ammo up the north, also showing the calibre of ammo that your buying on as well.
