Someone has given me the following seeds from their garden :

Aquilegia, lupin, large poppy & wild poppy

Being an absolute flower-garden beginner, could someone please explain how to sow these. Should they be sown in trays and then planted out or just scattered in the desired growing location.

As much detail as possible would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

At the moment I have aquilegia growing as a complete weed in every possible place but mostly in the cracks of the paving. If you scatter that and the poppies they will more than likely appear in the spring (they are scattering their own seeds about now anyway). The lupins might be a bit more fussy, keep them till the spring then sow into trays.

Those seeds are none too fussy and will germinate quite successfully without any special input. As other poster stated, they probably have more in common with weeds being very good colonisers/space invaders.
