Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Are third part battery grips safe to use? As in, buying one from eBay that's not Canon for a Canon?

Like, it's not gonna mess up the camera?

Excuse my sounding like a dunce. Thanks.

I have used third party grips from Ebay without any problems on Nikon and Canon cameras. Also third party batteries from Ebay.

Great to hear. Thanks so much. I just wasn't sure seeing the difference in price offered on eBay and then for Canon ones. Guess it all trickles down to brand at the end of the day.

    Be warned:

Getting a vertical (usually battery) grip that has a duplicate set of controls on it will ruin you for NOT having a vertical grip. :)

    They're *BLEEP*ing sweet!

I recently got a 3rd party grip for Sony, came with 2 batteries, very happy with it.

I got one, works fine, but build quality isn't as good. Also, mine doesn't allow communication with the battery, meaning you don't know what your battery level is. Worth it if you are getting it cheap IMO.

I've used Phottix grips on my D80 and D300....incredibly cheap (D300 grip + 2 spare batteries cost me ~€50 when I bought it), yet extremely good products.
