hi... just a question about an oil range. We have a Rayburn oil range in the kitchen. It controls the ofch for the house, and it also has 2 ovens and a metal plate on top for cooking... the problem is that it takes for ever to heat water. I was told today that it should heat water very quickly, but after 40 minutes of the range powered up, the water from the hot tap is only luke warm. Could anyone throw any light on this please?
    many thanks

how long does it take for you to get hot water? ie other than luke warm?

Ranges are not like immersions, immersions have an element at the top of the cylinder and it directly heats the water, and as hot water rises its only first heating the top portion of the tank hence quicker hot water.

The heating of the domestic water is by the range is different, it heats the water in the boiler and that water runs through a coil in the cylinder and that coil geats the cylinder, but this coil is generally depending on the cylinder at the bottom or the middle, it depends on how many heating systems you run, but as the coil is lower down the tank it takes longer to heat, plus you have to heat the water in the range boiler first.

In essance, as houses vary - 40 mins doesnt seem too much longer than id expect
