I can't believe I'm still reading this. Its really kind of compulsive in an irritating sort of way. It does need popcorn though.

All these contradictions have been pointed out to caseyann before on numerous occasions. A logical person would see this and cop themselves on.

Caseyann has gone the victim route and the persecution complex way. Not a good sign. To generalise, sounds racialist.

    So what's the official line?
Irish - fair game, but there must be equal parts misogyny and outrage at same
British - must be split 30:20:50 between hate:love:grow-up-and-get-over-it
American - mostly OK, must involve Overheal having a hissy fit though
Australians - fine if Dr. B is on duty, otherwise also fine
Chinese - sure, everyone knows it's not real racism, just a bit of a laugh
    French - allowed, encouraged, expected
Russian - must be done in 'ironic' meme form
Nigerian - maximum of 6% negativity, just enough concentrate for the indignance to dilute
Polish - grand because they work hard and have hot burds, hilarious swan mention obligatory and 'how do you know they were Polish?'
Romanian - even if you mean Romanian, you don't actually mean Romanian, you mean Roma
Roma - allowed on the proviso that it be 90% vitriol and be Godwinned by post 3

Would that not be a sterotype?

Fine. So, you are giving out about foreign people posting stuff like that on Boards about Irish people.

But, it's perfectly fine for you to do that about black taxi drivers.

That's a double standard, clear as day caseyann. If you can't see that, it is pointless posting with you. You hold foreign people to a far higher standard than you apply to yourself. It's hypocritical definitely, xenophobic almost certainly and the odds are, the R word too.

Israelis - must make token effort to show that you just mean the ones what are oppressing and stuff and that you don't hate Jews in general. Honestly. I mean, you've no idea why anyone would hate Jews particularly, it seems so arbitrary. Could there be anything in that? No, definitely Larry David and that guy off the funny news show are sound out.

so what was your point? are you genuinely looking for rules on who we can slag off and how much it's ok? i would think common sense can dictate that?

There's no such thing as common sense, the AH celeb thread just below this has thrashed that doozy out for more pages than I care to read. My point, as per the OP, is on the institutionalised double-standards applied to ethnic criticism.

and why do we need to be allowed to criticise other ethnicities that we are not a part of?

    This is silly!

So we can either critique our own culture AND allow full blown racism

or we can ban critiquing our own culture because there are people on Boards who like to spout racism rubbish?

Don't be ridiculous! No double standard exists!

How do you, I or anyone else know what ethnicity anyone reading and posting on boards is part of? Why does anyone need to be allowed criticise the Irish (or the Roma or the Americans)? That's the double standard. By not allowing criticism of anyone outside of some élite clique that you define with your own arbitrary parameters you're guilty of a clear form of racism, on top of astounding arrogance.

Wouldn't be much fun and the "tell it as it is" brigade would go mad!

I do take your point. Making generalisation is rather stupid, but sure we all do it, to some degree or another.

so you're telling me I'm racist because I'll happily slag off the Irish but won't do the same about the Roma for example?

On the face of it, yes, that would appear to be racism. You may want to throw the old 'I'm one so I can say what I like' card out, but I could just as easily say "I'm black and I think **** are stupid, lazy *****".
