    Pot 1 Seeded teams
    Sevilla
    Werder Bremen
    Zenit St. Petersburg
    Tottenham Hotspur
    Ajax

    Pot 2 Unseeded teams
    Dynamo Kyiv
    Braga
    Sampdoria
    Auxerre
    Young Boys

So this is it. Young Boys the best draw we can get. In order of preference I'd go:

    Young Boys
    Auxerre
    Sampdoria
    Braga
    Dynamo Kyiv

Though to be quite honest bar Kiev being the hardest and Young Boys by far the easiest, the middle 3 are all tough enough games.

Didn't we play Braga in the UEFA cup a few years ago.

2007 - We won both legs 3-2. I think Braga have improved since then, but we are also a better side.

I don't know about you lads but I hope we avoid Sampdoria and Dynamo Kiev. I think we should beat the rest (although Braga gave Celtic a hiding in the first leg and could be decent). Nervous about the draw now. Lets hope whoever we get we get through the qualifier and into the main draw with the big European teams.

The perfect draw, i would expect us to beat this side comfortably, who knows we might do something special in this competition especially considering liverpool in 2005.

Pleased with that. Better get the win though.

Lads, ye will definitely win. Its 100% guaranteed, no brainer. Spurs will categorically beat Braga hands down. Ye can't lose, ye won't lose. Welcome to the Champions League.

    /jinx :D

The Stade de Suisse Wankdorf...here we come.

We'll have to show some respect to Young Boys as they went to Fenerbache and won to get through, although I believe the Turks were down to ten men for most of the 2nd half.

The draw could have been a lot worse for us and I'm very happy to have the second leg at home.

Still need one or two new players in so come on Harry get busy with the wheeling and dealing.

Seriously lads.. you don't seriously think we could pull of a liverpool in 2005.

Most of our team haven't a single champions league match to their name ffs.

At least liverpool had a squad of player who had played CL football for several seasons previously and a manager with any amount of CL experience.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,946 ✭✭✭SuprSi

I don't see why we couldn't do what Leeds did when they got into the CL, without the obvious disaster afterwards. If we get a couple of key players, we'll be very strong and I think everyone on the team will be so fired up for these matches that anything could happen.

I'm delighted with the draw. But we will have to be careful. They managed to oust Fenerbahce, so they have shown their not exactly pushovers.

I think that if we get to the group stage and do reasonably well, it will be a success in itself, getting out of the group would be a superb achievement IMO.

What we now need is three or four players of caliber to bolster the squad.

I really wish Defoe hadn't come out and said we are going to do better than Arsenal in Champion's League. Let's qualify first for heaven's sake. He's a bit of an idiot really.
