Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I've found a number of relatives on Griffiths Valuation but on the scan of the Original Page some of them are listed with their full name followed by a second first name in brackets, e.g. John Smith (Martin).

Does anyone know what the second name in brackets signifies?

I think the additional names were used to help distinguish various people with the same or similar names. e.g. in the same Townland there could have been two John Smith's, and the (Martin) could be his father's name, middle name or nick-name

I have not come across this on any entries for my own family but I think that if you looked into the parish registers for the area you might be able to use this details to work out some possible logic to it.
