Hey.
Need some help in deciphering the Australian tax system. Hopefully someone can give me a clue!

Basically i worked this year from Jan to May in Australia. I was paying the higher rate of tax (think it is 42%) as well as paying for transport to and from work and various other courses that came with starting the job (which i was told i could claim back!).

I got a bill last week to tell me not only have i nothing to claim back but that i owe the Australian tax office 400dollars! I am a non-resident of Australia but surley i am entitled to claim some tax back???
Any help would be appreciated.
