Running Music??

    Hi Guys

I've recently attempted to start jogging and i have to say I'm finding it very difficult.

I listen to my iPod whilst (attempting) to run. I find that none of my playlists really motivate me to run or get me going.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to albums or songs which might help push me a bit farther?

    Thanks

Limp Bizkit: Chocolate Star Fish Album

It's what i use but there are two half slow songs which you'd be better to remove.

I use it for HIIT and without it I wouldn't come close to the levels i get to.

    Whatever you like yourself..

My running mix is all over the shop, from Country and Classical to Metal - but they are songs I like with a bit of a beat and rhythm you can run to.

You put one of those standard "running mixes" of random dance music onto my iPod I would vomit

Tiesto has some very good mixes that would work well also

When I'm running, I use my Nokia N95 for 2 things.
    1. To run the Endomonda application to keep a record of my runs.
    2. To listen to Irish Pub Radio online. :-)

I love a bit of metal, but I find it's better for lifting. For running I find something a little slower with a steady beat is best for keeping you breathing correctly and at a nice pace.

I hate that all gyms play is crappy dance music. Don't think it helps at all.

Depends on what type of music you're into?

For me these songs get me going while in the gym not just specifically for the treadmill:

    FreeSol-Don't give it away
(It Featured In the Latest episode of "Entourage" If anyone watches it.)

    Outkast-B.O.B
    (Ultimate Gym song)

Ellie Goulding vs. Jackson 5- "I want you starry eyed"
(good Up-Beat Mashup, will get you going)

Let me Know if any of these help your workout:D

chemical brothers new album has a song called Escape Velocity...its 12 mins long so if you can concentrate on the song till the end you're doing well.
Also "Alive" by Daft Punk...its on their Homework album
A bit of Metallica and some Nine Inch Nails i think helps too...
Im more of a rock buff but i find Dance, Electronic and Metal the best to work out too.

Just starting the C25K program and finding that a lot of the post rock type music I listen to works quite well... So plenty of tracks by Mono, Mogwai, 65daysofstatic etc etc.

Pendulum - I listen to nothing else when running go for the album In Silico and the new one Immersion, Hold Your Colour is quite good too. Great for pace although some might find them a little fast.

Agree with the Limp Bizkit Chocolate Starfish album! Some other great ones for me are:
Queens of the Stone Age - Go with the flow
    Rise Against - Collapse
    Cancer Bats - Hail Destroyer
    Bad Religion - American Jesus
great tempo in all of them!

    DMX - The great Depression
    DMX - Grand Champ

    Specifically, F**k Ya'll.

Well I find them very good for lifting anyway

    It's Ferry, not Freddy.
Just in case people try to download or google etc

Big fan of Daft Punk for runs/cycles/cardio.

I go for the Alive 2007 album, its nothing to go with the song of the same name, all the tracks are 2 or more songs mixed together and all the tracks from 1-20 and mixed together, so its plays right through with ease

Not a big fan of dance/techno/whatever it's called, myself. I do find there are some OK Prodigy tracks though (omen, invaders must die) but the one track I always make sure is on a playlist for any cardio exercise is 'This Fire Burns' by Killswitch Engage.

I think it's a brilliant tune, very fast paced and very heavy (and the lyrics at the start aren't too shabby for exercising either).

    Highly, highly recommend ye guys check it out. Here it is on el Tubo;

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtWBoI-UVNc

Give it about 40 seconds :) (I won't embed it as there are already too many embedded tracks in here. Although I'm thankful to have a decent internet connection, ye guys must realise that some people will now struggle to view this thread?!).

Come ot think of it, I'd recommend ye guys check out some WWE theme tunes. Wrestler entrance music is generally designed to have no drops or anything (as it only gets played for a short time and is generally made to hype up the rassler on his way to the ring).

I'd also second Rise Against as a potential band to listen to. A lot of their tracks are fast paced and upbeat. Find Rage Against The Machine to generally be too slow or something though.

Embedding youtube doesn't add a hole lot to a page for slow connections, they only load once you press the play button. And there are other threads on boards with hundreds more youtube vids, the poker BBV for one, even though its died and moved to a new site

edit: and I emb'd it for you, you must of entered it wrong
