Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Washing Machine Trouble

I have a Whirlpool AWM 1200 front loader washing machine. I used it fine yesterday then today I put a wash on and the the machine will not start.

I have put it on to a wash, a rinse and a spin setting and nothing happens - it just clicks but does nothing.

I tried putting it on a drain setting and I can hear the machine making the pumping noise but it still wont work.

I had a look at the filter compartment (on the bottom right front of the machine) and it was full of water. I got all the water out - had a look at the filter and it was fine - no blockage. Still the machine would not start.

I then added water manually into the machine - 4 pints - and put it on a drain setting. It made the usual pumping noise. I had a look at the filter compartment and again it was full of water.

Can anyone help? Any ideas what might be wrong with it. What can I DIY to see if I can fix it myself before having to ring a plumber?

I've posted this in other areas of this site - so hope someone can help

When you checked the filter did you check that the blades of the pump were moving around freely?
Sometimes things like toothpicks, paper clips or similar can get through the filter and foul the pump. Make sure everything is switched off before sticking your finger in.

I'd say you're on the right line here... Check that the outlet pipe isn't blocked or snagged..
You could pull the machine out carefully and the outlet pipe probably isn't hard fixed into the drain... put it into a basin instead and see if the water will come out..

If there is water in the drum and the pump is spinning then the water should come out if there is no obstruction...
