I think Andy Moran deserves it.

James McCarthy odds on, Moran round 6/4. Another case of the huge shifts in this market: McCarthy was third or fourth favourite round 7/1 straight after the match, must have come inafter the guys were talking him upon the Sunday game. Cluxton gone the opposite way.

AOS is 11/10 for an All Star with Boyles. Would have him ahead of Kilkenny who is 4/9. Kilkenny was anonymous yesterday whereas o'shea had a good game and has been consistently good throughout the chamionship.

In fairness, 11/10 is a good price about AOS, but Kilkenny was hugely important in the Dubs season and would be foolish to overlook based on one quiet game.

In the forwards I'd go with:

    Kilkenny AOS McLoughlin
    Geaney Con Callaghan Moran

I wouldn't give either an all star tbh, surprised at those odds particularly Kilkenny.

Somebody agrees that 11/10 on AOS was wrong, he's 4/6 now

  • Registered Users Posts: 726 ✭✭✭slimshady007

Indeed, AOS is now 4/6. Kilkenny also moved - he's now 4/6 aswell.

Separately, Boyles have updated their Footballer of the year odds too. Moran back in to 4/5 fav with McCarthy pushed out to 11/10.

Can't see any All Star/Footballer of the year odds with PP, any other bookie doing them bar Boyles?

Tell me about it . Killed my accum . Didn't think all those would be available to them. Tom Devine played as well

PP go AOS at 4/9 and Kilkenny 4/5 - that would be more accurate imo.

For Footballer of the Year PP have McCarthy fav at 4/6 and Moran at 6/4 whereas Boyles go Moran fav at 4/5 and McCarthy at 11/10. Assuming it's between those two (and it does look like that with all games played) then you could guarantee yourself some profit.

Looking for a nice bet on the outright market for All Ireland Club Hurling Championships before all the prices start getting slashed. Anyone any thoughts on this or who would you fancy in this market

I assume you mean PP have him fave now aswell. But yea they both have him odds on. PP in particular have moved massively in price on him from 6/4 right into 4/9. Prices now:

    Boyles
    Moran 8/13
    McCarthy 6/5

    PP
    Moran 4/9
    McCarthy 15/8

Moran probably deserves it on the basis he's stood out in most games this year. McCarthy was great in the final but you couldn't say he stood out massively in any other game which is probably due to the Dublin set up and how it's all about the team rather than the individual. There will be a few Dublin noses out of place though if a Mayo player gets the award for the 2nd year in a row despite the Dubs winning the All Ireland both years.

Jamie Barron 25/1 hurler of the year. Another good game on Sunday and a waterford win will see those odds drop dramatically

Nominated for HOTY along with Joe canning and Kevin Moran. The fact that it's two Waterford players nominated will hurt his chances of getting it though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,087 ✭✭✭✭Mantis Toboggan

It's a sympathy vote and he doesn't deserve it but I think Canning is a shoe in the hurler of the year. Whelan young hurler of the year.

A damn good team by the looks of the one that lined out against Midleton on Sunday...

    Jack Barry (Cork)
    David Lowney (Cork)
    Colm Spillane (Cork)
    David Griffin (Cork)
    Shane Roche (Waterford)
    Conor Gleeson (Waterford)
    Mark Coleman (Cork)
    Jamie Barron (Waterford)
    Darragh Fitzgibbon (Cork)
    Mark O'Brien (Waterford)
    Michael Breen (Tipperary)
    Rob O'Shea (Cork)
    Andrew Casey (Waterford)
    Tom Devine (Waterford)
    Anthony Spillane (Cork)

UCC now face Sarsfields in the quarter-final on Sunday with some of their players expected to be action with their clubs over the weekend. Most notably Waterford players Jamie Barron and Conor Gleeson (Fourmilewater, Saturday) and Andrew Casey (Ballyduff Upper, Sunday).

Rathmore are a bit on the big side at 15/8 down in Kerry this weekend. By no means a cert, but they should be around 11/8 or 5/4 in my book.

Also, I've no real interest in Tyrone football but it's interesting that Pomeroy are made a 7/2 shot against Clonoe this weekend having turned over the favourites Killyclogher in the last round. Any Tyrone posters have an opinion there?

  • Registered Users Posts: 223 ✭✭CapsLock20

From an outsider looking in, Pomeroy are maybe a bit overpriced but Clonoe should do enough to beat Pomeroy with Connor McAliskey sure to start after making his comeback from a cruciate injury against Dromore.

Also worth noting Killyclogher were without Tiernan McCann and played the whole second half with 14 men.

Mitchelstown after being backed into from 7/5 to 8/11, seems to be a lot of interest for them. Beat Ballydesmond by 12 points in replay last weekend. Seems a good bet for the weekend

    Still evens on Boyles

Borris impressed Today. They were favs in my book anyway.

Thurles went 12 points up after 20 minutes but never drove on, was an awful game to watch. Won by 9 in end so a loser on the handicap which I taught would be hammered when they started so strong.
