Time to start thinking about serious stuff again...is it possible to take out a loan for college (accomodation etc) and pay it back when you get a job following college? Similiar to what they have in England etc.

Theres a grant sytem in place. Have you contacted your local VEC/ County Council?
Good bit of info here: http://www.studentfinance.ie/mp7554/find-your-scheme-and-where-to-apply/index.html
    is this what you meant?

I think AIB have a student interest free loan that you only start piling up interest on and paying back when you get your first job. Theres usually a student branch in or near the college so give them a ring :)

Also I was wondering do you have to be 18 to get a student loan because I won't be 18 for my first year of college and I really think I'm going to need to get a loan.

You can also get an interest free overdraft in Ulster Bank of 650 euro for the duration of the course

I know of that, sent the form off today, more of what queen of leon was talking about. Fair chance I'll end up needing accomodation and there's zero chance of money from the family at the mo. How much would someone need to survive for a year? Guesstamations please:rolleyes:

You could check with the SU Welfare or Education officer about best options.
