Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I am just loving the responses of United players, the questions are just a bit weird and everyone responds accordingly with "like, wtf?"

"Goal is a goal. It doesn't matter how you score it. Once the ball is in the net that's all that counts!"

Berbatov has a sense of humour :)

Berba's finish was so sexy, he had a post-coital cigarette after it.

Better to score like Wimbeldon, than concede like them.

lol at redknapp critcizing capello for his grasp of the english language.

HAHAHAHAHA! Still laughing at Hernandez's goal. It's so much funnier when you're borderline hammered!

That's going on my iPod to cheer me up when I need it!

Great result for United though. Valencia showing his intelligence by taking up Rooney's role for the goal was great. Sweet goal by Berbatov, delighted for him!

    Bring on Newcastle!

Hopefully the last goal will be good enough for the tika-taka taliban.

Nothing Wimbledon about that one. What was it, 20 consecutive touches?

Not much of an improvement o the normal gimmick monkey - I was expecting to find you punching your keyboard in the Chelsea thread in anger and calling for the manager and entire playing staff to be fired.;)

:D yep after that one good performance I think so too.

Chicharitos goal was comical, if it had not hit his head it would have been miss of the century and gone out for a throw.

Well done utd, ye deserved it on the day.

Strange how unfit some of the Chelsea players seemed but I wouldnt read too much into it. 4 defeats in a row, meh they'll be up there now doubt.

But, yay another addition to the ignore list! 5 years on this site and I'm only starting to use this functionality now...

Sure, aren't Chelsea odds on to be relegated now.

Will be interesting to see the difference in performance when teams meet again. Hopefully Ramires can significantly add to our midfield and the likelyhood is Kakuta will challenge Kalou for that position as the season wears on.

I would imagine that it has something to do with the "route one" style of football they used to play under Dave Bassett.

And confusion! I previously thought it was in reference to Scholes long ball over the top for the first goal!

I think thats where the comment came from....even though it was a peach of a ball!

Chelsea have 4 loses on the trot now , cant be a good sign for them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Good result today. Scholes was great of course but I thought Carrick had a very good game too, particularly in the first half which was very encouraging.

Looks like United have much better options up front now. If we could get a signing in midfield, *Ozil cough*, I'd be delighted.

Not sure the match will have any bearing on the title race but if there is something to take heart from it's the poor form of Chelsea. Hopefully they will have a bit of a bumpy start but I wouldn't bet on it. :pac:

It's been a bad pre-season for us but I wouldn't read to much into it. We'll hopefully have Cech and Drogba starting next week.

i've not read through the thread yet, but a couple of things...

firstly, that wasn't a 3-1 game. Utd were impressively clinical, and that was the difference.

that and Scholes, who was magnificent. why Chelsea didn't press him I've no f*cking clue. for the first goal for instance, he had at least 7 yards of space all around him.

either way though, he was a joy to watch.

Chelsea didn't play with enough intensity, and that may have been down to the fact it was a 'pre-season friendly'. but they weren't bad, bar their organisation in defence, which seemed very sub-standard. they were just a bit lax really; it looked like rustiness more than simply being in any way poor.

Utd were neat, tidy, still lacking a little something i thought, probably an on-fire Rooney, but all was very encouraging for them going into the start of the season. Scholes has a new lease of life in 2010, and Utd will be in a very strong position if that continues. nobody else really stood out IMO, bar Vidic, but you expect him to immense at this stage; it comes with the territory.

one thing, Carlo doesn't look too happy though. pre-season has not been particularly pleasant for him on the playing front for his side.
