I have been thinking of getting one of these for a while, I only shoot HMR so my ranges are not as huge as some of you guys who shoot bigger calibers.
I'm very bad at judging distances and some of the permissions I shoot have huge, vast fields which can be hard to range by eyeball and since I intend to put a bit more time into my shooting this winter I was going to go for one of the cheaper rangefinders and start hitting targets at 100, 150 and 200M to get my shooting back up to scratch.
I walked over some new land I have just got permisson to shoot on this evening and the fields are bloody massive and it makes it difficult to get a reference point to calculate distance. The land isnt shot much and has everything from stubble, bog, river going through and large pastures so plenty of vermin to keep me happy.
I have searched through the forum and although mentioned a few times this particular rangefinder wasnt reviewed by anyone, has this changed can anyone give me an opinion on this item? http://www.jsramsbottom.com/products/rangefinders/gtlrf-guntuff-laser-rangefinder-18---400-yard--meter-%5Bcr2-battery-included%5D.html

I know the Bushnell and Leica RF are better but for sub €100 this looks like a good deal for my shooting.

I've a Nikon Buckmasters 800, about 5-8 years old. I've had it 4 i think! Bought it second hand.

It is great out to 350, it takes a while to get a reading after that, but it has given me readings out to 700 yards.

I'd imagine they can be picked up for ~200 as Nikon brought out a much smaller one which made mine look huge in comparison!, even though it is smaller than a pair of Bino's

Hey there, I see it says out to 400, usually it's hard to get the max from a range finder, I have a Leica 1200 and most I ranged was 960. So max with the one you referred to might only be 300-350. But that's ok for a HMR. If ya went another few pound ya might get a good s/h bushnell or a Nikon. As Tack said, readings can be hard got sometimes.

    Thanks for advice,

I decided not to go for the Guntuff model as although probably fine for my needs I just ordered a different model that has a longer range ( 600m )
Its a "Longridge" rangefinder, it designed for golfers as are a lot of them but has got good reviews from Golfers and shooters alike.
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Longridge-GADFL1-Laser-Distance-Finder/dp/B000UTOHBE

I got it delivered FOC from Amazon all in for €123

Kinda semi hijacking your thread but the new bushnell fusion is a combined bino and rangefinder set up and is relatively cheap at app. 700 quid.
Initial reviews seem very good on it too so it might be worth a look if you havn't already invested in binos.
