Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

PC won't boot

I've a Dell PC, 2 years old. It's out of warranty by a month now. It's been running fine, but last night it crashed and now won't boot at all.

It won't even POST. I can see it power on, check devices (LEDs), but doesn't show the splash screen and no option to enter the BIOS settings.

I haven't added any new hardware in the last 2 months.

    Any ideas?

I could've posted a long check-list of what to do. Instead please refer to this,

    Hope that helps!

Try a different graphics card and/or monitor.

It could be a dead motherboard/power supply either but you will find that out by checking the first 2.

You could also contact dell and they will repair it for a flat fee or perhaps fix it as a good will gesture as it's only a month out of warranty.

You could also purchase an extended warranty before doing any of that, could be the cheapest option.

Seems to agree with me on the extended warranty idea.

Thankfully I'd a spare machine I could canabalise. Turns out I've a dead video card.

So, I've just decided to bite the bullit and buy a new card. Also, give me a chance to get a newer/better card. :D

    Thanks for the help folks.
