Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Quick question lads, would you fail an NCT if your service warning light was on?

    Thanks and sorry, It's probably a stupid question but I just want to be sure.

    Any lights on the dash is a fail AFAIR, and the easy fix would be to get it serviced :rolleyes:

    VW Golf MKIV

    Hadn't planned on getting serviced for a few months. Only 6'000 miles on it since it's last service but that was in May 09.

    I'd doubt it would fail on that?It's only a reminder and not a warning light.

    Get it serviced.

    Its not only mileage but time.

    Sounds like last guy to service didnt reset it at all as I think the time interval is 2 years (maybe not on that model)
    I cant see how this would matter for the NCT though however if you are sure its not due, just search google for the reset procedure for your car & remember the correct mileage that you need to get the next service done at. If you then reset again after next service, everything should be back on track

    It should be serviced once a year.

    You can chance it. If it fails on that only you can go back and get it retested free after having the service done and light reset.
    It's just a quick visual inspection by one of the guys at the NCT.

    Just reset the service indicator yourself:

    * Turn on ignition.

    * Hold down Right trip button and continue to do so whilst turning off ignition.

    * Still with Right trip button held down turn ignition back on.

    * Release Right trip button.

    * With ignition still on turn Left trip button to the Right and release.

    * Turn off ignition.

    Works on all the VAG varients afaik.

    Get it serviced too, should be done every year, belts are the big one to have inspected.

    So many replies, and none of them answered OP's question

    The answer is: NO, it won't fail NCT for a service warning light.
