Are all the case IO cables connected - i.e., these type ones?

    front_panel.gif

Is the CPU fan connected to the motherboard?

Try removing these cables and using something metal to short the power button pins. This should turn it on.

Other thing that happened me few times is the motherboard touching the case and shorting it so it wouldn't turn on. That's probably not your issue if you have a light on the motherboard now but its something worth testing. You might need to remove the motherboard and test it outside the case

the CPU cable is the 8-pin cable that plugs into your MoBo.

    Hi,
Take out the memory and graphics card.

Also take out the hdd and dvd cables and any un needed cables for example usb

Turn on system and listen for beeps.

Make sure speaker is correctly on the panel connectors.

    Do u get any beeps?

Did you try resetting the cmos?

    cmos?

tried all the other stuff and nothing.... dam pc -.-

Yes,Cmos are 3 pins on the motherboard where you take off the bridge between 2 pins and put it on the middle and other one and leave for a few seconds then replace as it was.
If you have all cables in the correct places then it looks like its either cpu or mobo problem.

Is the cpu seated correctly?Does the cpu fan come on for even a few seconds?
    Is this your first build?

does it have like a rubber cap covering 2 pins?

    emm yes my first build

  • Registered Users Posts: 83,264 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

Thats the one. Its probably covering pins 2 and 3? pull it off and cover it on pins 1 and 2. Wait 10 seconds and put it back on 2 and 3.

HAVE YOU PLUGED IN NUMBER 1 BESIDE THE CPU

if all else fails, disassemble the PC and build it again. The case could be shortcircuiting the motherboard. It happens. Think of that as a last option. Assemble the PC outside of the case

Do you have any other parts that you could use? Like an old PSU just to eliminate the possiblilities? Or anyone that could give you a loan?

I can't see anything that catches my eye. Just having a flick through the manual now. Maybe leave out the white adapter thing, what's it called... Q-something, just to cut one more thing out. Or didn't someone above say to short the power pins. Did that work?

  • Registered Users Posts: 166 ✭✭gamer_Niall

i could prob use the one from the pc im using now? i think its a 450w and yes i tried shorting them out... nothing

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,181 ✭✭✭ronkmonster

I don't know if matters, but have you tried with some ram outside the case?

Also the led light, is there anything in the manual about what colour it should be?

Yes, that would be perfect. You'll definitely be able to eliminate the PSU as being the (only) problem.

  • Registered Users Posts: 166 ✭✭gamer_Niall

tried it its not the PSU, any other ideas?

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,845 ✭✭✭massy086

    did u get my pm

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,928 ✭✭✭VenomIreland

So, you don't even hear the CPU fan moving?

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 17,134 Mod ✭✭✭✭cherryghost

    - you could try take the cmos battery out for about 20 minutes. unplug the PSU completely from the motherboard and leave the battery out for the 20 minutes then. then click it back in. it's the rounded battery between the two PCIe slots

    - try reseating the heatsink on the cpu

    - attach the gfx card and one stick of ram in and try boot then.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭kmb

    Hi,
Okay,so lets see the cpu fan is not turning and you tried to short the wires so that rules out:
    Case switch
    psu (tried alternative)
    cmos(already done?)

It is either the cpu or motherboard.
    So,did you reseat the cpu?

    Op,Where are you based?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭kmb

Is it possible that there are more than 1 fan connectors and that you plugged into the wrong one?
There are usually a few of these for case fans.

Yes it looks like you are in the wrong one.
    Chasis not cpu fan socket

  • Registered Users Posts: 83,264 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

    booting with no RAM?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,723 ✭✭✭kmb

    Hi gamer_Niall,
Di you move the cpu fan connection?

It should be on the other one next to it.
It wont boot till it is on the right one as the mobo sensor thinks there is no fan and heatsink present.

its sorted all it was he had the 8pin cpu in were asus had put a blanking plate so it would only take a four pin so put in the 4 pin and also the cmos jumper was on wrong
