Maybe give it another month, maybe two and see. If it doesn't settle head back to your GP. Missing a couple of pills could have had an affect. I'd forget my head if it wasn't screwed on so I have an app on my phone that reminds me to take my pill in the morning. :)

Now I dont know whether I should do a pregnancy test. I am sexually active, but we use condoms. Obviously they are not 100% but it would have to be seriously bad luck!
There's nothing guaranteed to bring on a late period quite like a negative test. Might be as well to do one for peace of mind.

The pharmacist made a boo-boo with my pill prescription and gave me Ovranette instead of Dianette, and I only copped it when I got home. Would I be okay to take the Ovranette for a month seeing as it's also a combined pill?

It was the last month in my prescription anyway and I was going to change to something else. Or should I bring it back and get the Dianette?

Best check with the pharmacist, ring them.

Went to my GP last week after that super long period..she didn't seem bothered that my cycle is all over the place, saying that the pill does that, but seemed concerned about the long bleed. Which threw me. Have an ultrasound next week and a swab to be taken on Tuesday..all very quick here in the UK, but put the heeby jeebys up me.

On another note, I had the 'clock talk' again from my dear mum, whose clearly been googling fertility as made sure to tell me 'to get plenty of vitamin D' in the sunny weather this weekend, something Ive not heard her say before. Tis tough!

I'd bring it back. Changing pills messes with your body a lot, in my experience. It'd be more hassle to take a new one than just change that one.

Best of luck with the scans, Lady MB!

Thanks ladies, I brought the Ovranette back and had it changed.

Well I did the test and it was negative thankfully! Still no period though. Guess I'll just have to wait.
I know periods can be very messed up when you stop taking the pill. This ones just a bit odd though as the rest have been fairly regular.

Does anyone get thrush symptoms before their periods? I've been on Yasmin since February and now I seem to get thrush about a week before my period starts, but it clears up once my period is done. Normally when I get thrush, nothing shifts it except Diflucan, but this clears itself up so it's not like proper thrush. I'm just curious if this happens to anyone else?

I used to when I was in my mid twenties! And it would clear up all on it's own too. I wasn't on the pill then.

I did - and then I tried this crazy anti-candida/everything diet a few months ago and that put a stop to it thankfully! However I was getting recurring thrush which was driving me nuts (along with a host of other things)... however before my period was ALWAYS the worst.

I've googled and it seems pretty common.

I'm really prone to thrush too, I seem to get a recurring bout about once a year. How long did you have to do the diet for? I've considered it, but it seems crazy hard to follow!

I'm not going to lie - it was really tough, but even moreso because I was doing some gut balancing/paleo thing in conjunction - I had a lot of different symptoms and was going crazy! I did no caffeine/carbs/sugar/nightshades for 5 weeks with a few hiccups (one where I went out drinking and had an instant thrush flare up), and then I went on holidays back home where my family buys rice in 20kg bags so I couldn't keep it up...

I got the 'die-off' symptoms they talk about in the first 2 weeks, which felt pretty bad - but after that I really did feel a LOT better. I don't want to say it's a miracle cure (in addition to thrush I was also getting alternating BV, pain during sex, abdominal pains, bloating - which all cleared up and have stayed gone) but I figured heck it wasn't going to cost me anything and things couldn't get worse... Also I feel pretty lucky because I was totally totally skeptical as the only info I could find was on more 'alternative' sites - am eating my words now :)

Thanks! Did you just cut out offending foods and drinks, or did you go the whole hog drinking that water with whatever mixed in that I read about? Did you follow a website that you could recommend?

/edit: Have found a thread in the Nutrition & Diet forum about the diet. It sounds hellish :(. I've taken a Diflucan tablet for this flare-up. If it comes back next month, I'll have a chat to my doctor about whether to take a course of diflucan or whether to try and naturally eliminate the yeast.

Being a woman is really trying at times!

The basics of the diet (what worked for me anyway) are three things: (a) no wheat, (b) no added sugar (some fruit is allowed, as is dairy), (c) no alcohol. If you constantly get recurring thrush then it's worth seeing a specialist who can prescribe Nystatin powder to go along with the diet.

    Typical day's food might be:

Breakfast - Natural yogurt (with probiotics), sunflower seeds, raspberries/ blueberries

    Lunch - Eggs/ meat/ fish with salad

Dinner - Any meat/ fish with tons of veg. Potatoes and rice allowed.

It's actually not that hard but does take lots of pre-planning so you don't go hungry.

The one I did was similar to above - but even more restrictive... it was no starchy vegetables at all, which meant on the foods to avoid list were: all sugars, alcohol, grains, fruit, caffeine, mushrooms, some meats, nuts, and things like potatoes, chickpeas, carrots and peas!

I should have probably listed the foods to eat one as it was much shorter ;)

One thing I did find were that doctors were very very hesitant to prescribe a long course of diflucan, even though the dosage instructions state it can be taken for weeks or even months. It's also crazy because diflucan is available over the counter in the UK etc. (where it's way way cheaper) just not here! Made the almost 2 years I spent with thrush very very expensive...

So I'm up to day 47 of my cycle now. At what point, if at all, does it become an issue? I've been off the pill for 6 months now and I've gained weight, mostly around the top of my hips, stomach and bra line (:() my face has gotten oilier and I'm certain my hair is starting to thin! When I look at my parting I can see more scalp than before, if that makes sense, like theres less hairs than there used to be!

    Hey all,

Ive been thinking of switching contraception over the last couple of weeks. I'm on Cerazette at the min, which I love. Although i'm now worried that its the reason why i'm always hungry and i'm not able to lose weight. Has anyone here ever lost weight on any form of contraception?? I've tried googling it but there's just so many different opinions and not many are from Irish people, so i'm not sure whats available here or not. Any help would be great. i've spoken to my doctor but she said all contraceptions are pretty much the same in regards to weight gain

When I first went on the Pill, my doctor said that it's not the Pill itself that causes weight gain, but it can increase appetite and, ultimately, if you're eating more, you will likely gain weight.

I will say that I haven't noticed any increased appetite since I changed over to Yasmin many moons ago. It is, however, one of the most expensive Pills out there, at between €12 and €14 a pack depending on where you buy it.

I did consider changing to a cheaper Pill, because I tend to run packets into eachother a lot so in reality it was costing me c. €84 for only about 4 months rather than 6 at a time, but in the end, I decided not to. If it ain't broke, and all that...

I've posted several times about this, but I could not lose weight on Cerazette. I wasn't any hungrier than normal, I was tracking everything I ate and sticking to less than 1,400 calories today and I couldn't lose an ounce.

On the other hand, I've never had any trouble at all losing weight on any other contraceptive pill so far.

    Hi ladies,
Another thrush question. I had a first time nfection as diagnosed by a nurse and took a canestan combi treatment. I used the pessaryon Tuesday and noticed a chalky discharge the next few days which I assume is the dissolved pessary. Now that's gone I still have a thicker than usual discharge even than when i had the infection. Is this normal? Is it just the yeast infection itself being removed from my body?
Sorry if that's tmi but Id just like to know if anyone else experienced this after thrust treatment or if I should go back to gp?

When I was on Cerazette it took me five months to lose a stone, eating very little. It was very difficult to get the weight off.

Discharge changes consistency during your cycle so it might be that? Its common not to realise all the changes it goes though unless we are specifically paying attention.

You may already know this but ask for a price for all 6 months together - you could save anywhere between 15 & 35 euro

And even at that different pharmacies can differ - for 6 months of Yasminelle I found Boots in Grafton St to be €20 cheaper than the local pharmacy near work.

Just back from my ultrasound (gp referred me a fortnight ago as I'd had an unusually long and painful bleed) and turns out I've a cyst on my right ovary , which explains why I've been looking so massively pregnant and also the twinges I've been experiencing. More tests Thursday and back for another ultrasound in three months to check out the cyst again.
Gonna tell the boyf that the sonographer recommended tea and cake for me ;)

I'm thinking the sonographer also recommended a hot bath and a massage, followed by feet up time, no?

So now I'm up to day 58 of my current cycle. 2 negative pregnancy tests. I've been feeling dizzy and nauseous for 3-4 weeks now. It could be related to migraines but I dont usually feel like this with a migraine and its awful coincidental with not having a period.

Has anyone come off the pill, had relatively normal cycles for 4-5 months and only after that, started to become irregular? I though usually once you come off its irregular to begin with, and then evens itself out after a few months. Mine seems to be the opposite.

Has anyone had more than 1 negative pregnancy test and still been pregnant?
