Recommend games for non-gamers

My OH has gotten deeply engrossed in Heavy Rain in the last few days, the first game she has taken any notice of since mario brothers. Can anybody recommend any other games she might enjoy? I think it would have to be something with a really strong story, not too punishing of mistakes/weaker skills, and ideally available…
