There is the Clayton Hotel up at the roundabout.
Ballybrit is a residential area and doesn't really have much shops etc.

What do you mean by the old entrance?

If it's the Tuam Rd entrance ... sorry, don't know, but have a feeling there are some pubs around.

If it's the Ballybrit Crescent and unnamed-road from Briarhill to Parkmore Industrial estates entrance ... then the Clayton (expensive and upmarket) is closest, and Amber Lodge (1/2 way down Doughiska Rd) are the options. Walking distance in my book, but not according to some of my friends. Not close enough to pop into at lunchtime though.

Galway Technology Park has a Spar and one cafe-ish restaurant. Briarhill Business Park has one cafe-coffee-ish place.

Parkmore neighbourhood map may give you a better idea of what's where.
