    Hiya Lads(and girls)

Going to Cork this weekend for a stag party. There was a lot of hype over the social life down there in the lonely planet guidebook so we decided to go there.

Can anyone give us a list of must see pubs, where the craic would be good for a few late 20s/early 30s crowd?
Places with good food/platters would be a plus.

Whats the best Casino for playing a few rounds of Texas Holdem till the early hours?

    Any bands or festivals?

    Any suggestions welcome, cheers:pac:

    Hi Pipelaser.
Well as above the decades festival is on all weekend. Last year it was fantastic so you are coming down the right weekend. Id say Washington st area would be a good bet for you all. Lots of pubs, like the bailey (last year they done the place up fab for the 80s, this year is 70s/90s so should be good) Reardans, Costigans, Wash, preachers, classic, long island, soho. Its a street of bars really. No bars really do platters unless you are having a party and it has been organised before the night. Soho have a restaurant upstairs, yum chicken wings!

There are a few casinos in town, and Ill find out the names for you later.

If you want lap dancing, there is the great escape, about 5 min walk from washington st. Supposed to be good!

I don't know will the patrons dress up so much - last year I was only in the Sextant for one of the nights and they were having an 80's theme. The staff were all dressed up, but there were some girls there who would do your make-up 80's style if you wanted. So for the craic I went all 'dayglo' eyeshadow and backcombed my hair a bit, and my OH got the full 'Kiss' treatment - his whole face painted black and white - it was hilarious. A lot of people in the pub were getting made up alright, but very few actually arrived dressed up.

Having said that there wasn't a huge amount of publicity about it last year. This year I have noticed more posters in pubs advertising what they are going to do. Like all the pubs in Douglas seem to be getting into it - each with a different theme, and they have bands playing both nights.

I'm supposed to go to a work do in the Boardwalk tonight - which is 80's apparently - and I can't see any of that crowd getting into the spirit of it (or even knowing about it for that matter!!)

Hi Guys - if you want to get out of the city for a bit, especially if the weather is good - head to Cobh as the annual Cobh Peoples Regatta is on this weekend and Sunday night the fireworks display is always fantastic. Check out their website cobhpeoplesregatta.com Programme isn't bad! J

The paddy games are on on Sat, would be a laugh before the proper drinking..

The pubs cadyboo mentioned would be good, maybe a trip to Soho, they have good food.
And a new club on oliver plunkett street called society may be worth checking out.

For poker I'd recommend bank casino, just off south mall
