I guess you need to decide if you want small keys or full size keys.
Then see if you want lots of preset general sounds or a synth to make your own sounds and get into programming.

You're budget is in the entry level end so you'll need to decide what is more important: the quality of the actual keyboard (playability) or lots of preset sounds. Casio/Yamaha would offer a few options or check out M-audio keystation, the ones with onboard sounds - some are just midi controllers.

I have been using technics KN keyboards since 1990 and find them excellent.
there are lots available on E-BAY as they are not produced anymore

You are too generic...to suggest you a keyb you should enter more details...what will be the use of the keyboard, you want to use it at home or playing with a band, doyou want a brand new keyboard or you are happy even with a second hand one?

There are many options, even using a master keyboard with your computer, if you have one.

I'm a beginner but would like full size keys and to be able to use it to control MIDI on my computer. Will be using it at home and in a band. Would be happy to buy second hand

cheers for all the replies. I'm a songwriter and ill be using the keyboard to try and put a basic chord structure to lyrics. It will save me some money when sending the song off to be recorded. thats the plan anyway.

p.s my songs are up on www.myspace.com/pcunninghamjnr if anyones interested.

    thanks again...

@domrush: what type of music are you playing with your band?

@Pcunningham: if you have to put some chord structure, maybe the best choice is a master keyboard to play with your computer, with sequencer and vst.
