Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Clown Almunia starting and as captain.

What a shambles! Bad enough he is total rubbish but to just throw the captaincy in the rubbish like that is a disgrace!

Now watch the so and so play a blinder :D

Why hasn't Fabregas travelled? Because he was on international duty on Wednesday?

Lol at the Arsenal fans. Way to start a season supporting your team.

I for one,as a United fan, will be cheering for Arsenal.

Unbelieveable that your team haven't kicked a ball in anger yet and you are all throwing the toys out. Embarrassing really.

You think Almunia is the best leader in the side?

Wenger has claimed before the armband means nothing, that's why mugs like Almunia and Silvestre regularly have it.

Easy to talk from the outside. Try having the frustration of making the same mistakes and from the same players every year, yet never fixing the problem.

Oh right, that'd make sense. I kept seeing won't be travelling because he went to Mexico and I was thinking that sounds off..

Aye. The only thing I'd be a little concerned about is why RVP isn't starting. Starting with a pretty un-experienced striker in Chamakh. Small gamble. Seemed to have a good pre season but this is a different kettle of fish altogether.

Obviously I was referring to the doom mongers posting on this thread. Apologies to the rest of the Arsenal fans if I didn't make that clear.

Giving Almunia the armband will give him a big confidence boost, something he definitely needs. Wenger hasn't said the armband means nothing, he said it doesn't mean as much as the importance some people place on it. It's not just down to the guy with the armband to lead, you need leaders all over the pitch.

I think Vermaelen would probably be best choice for captain today, but I can understand why it was given to our #1.

Might be going a bit too far, I can understand the frustration. The start of the season and we have no new GK even though Wenger has been trying for 8 months to buy one and we have 2 fit CB in the whole squad. This from a title winning team?
We will be doing well to finish top 4 at this stage.

Was this conversation not had last year? And then Arsenal went and tonked Everton 6-1? :pac:

I think Chamakh will do a good job for Arsenal today but rate Joe Cole very highly and think he'll have a huge impact on the game. Going for a Liverpool win 2-1 / Cole to get one, Chamakh to sneak an early one for Arsenal and then fall apart.

Hoping for a Liverpool win but I have to say i'm disappointed that Agger is LB and No sign of Aquilani.

    3-1
N'gog x 2 anyway.. maybe a debut goal for Jovanovic..
    Nasri for the gunners

As Pool fan, I hate to see Gerrard back in centre midfield. Indicates to me that he may have too much power over Hodgson. It's not his position despite what the British media might have you believe. Hope I'm totally wrong though.

Jeez Rednapp is some waffler and as for Merse worst pundit ever, sounds drunk. Hasnt a clue

What is? I'd rather see Cole behind the striker than Gerrard.

Did Cesc play for spain during the week?

Nah you are misreading this, Joe Cole is the one with too much power, he said he wanted to play centrally and thats forced Gerrard back ;)

    Arshavin's luck to run out.

Good play by Jovanovic, Arsenal have us pushed back but we're coping well in defence.

Frisbee was right about Almunia and the armband, hope it gives him some confidence, good move by Wenger. Nice player anyway and it's all we've got right now and I'd rather see him ahead of Fabianski at least.
