New World gas cookers safety notice

    19 February 2009

A consumer safety notice has been issued for four types of New World Vision gas cookers. The models affected are:

    * New World Vision 50WLM LPG WHI
    * New World Vision 50WLM LPG SV

All gas appliances must be operated in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Correct use and adequate ventilation are essential to ensure safe use. Using an appliance for any purpose, other than that for which it is designed for, can cause serious safety issues.

The above New World appliances are freestanding gas cookers and must always be installed and operated in accordance with the users’ instructions supplied with the product.

These appliances are designed for cooking purposes only and must not be used as a space heater or for any other purpose.
    The grill

Do not operate with the grill door closed. When the grill burner is operating, the grill door must always be in the open position.

If the grill is operated with the grill door closed, the air supply to the grill burner is restricted. This causes high levels of carbon monoxide to be produced, which is injurious to health.
    What to do

If you own any of the above New World cookers, contact 1800 569 569 or email service@dimpco.ie so that the company can arrange for one of its engineers to carry out a safety inspection and complete any modifications required.
