A friend had a similiar problem before, his tv co-ax connection was loose internally and there was no r.c.d in his house so the socket and the lighting neutrals were connected together. Hence the interference when the light was switched on or off. Is there an r.c.d in your place? Or is it old fuses??

ye probably have low voltage lighting in that room and the transformers can cause interferance, especially dimmable ones.

It is completely rewired recently and all socket circuits are protected by an rcd. There is a dimmable light in the room and this is the light that causes the interference.
