I'm assuming that you should be able to adjust the language settings?

    Super excited about this.

This is what I'm hoping.Never bought a foreign game before...shame no where in Ireland stocks the songbird edition

Gamestop are pretty good for getting you games on time. Or Gamesnash.

Don't go near the likes of Zavvi if you want it on time.

actually, xtra-vision seem to be selling the Songbird Edition. Not sure if it's still available though. http://www.xtra-vision.ie/bioshock-infinite-song-bird-ps3.html

Well this is the first game I have pre ordered from the PS Store. Payment won't be taken from my funds until a few days before release and I can pre download it on the 22nd. Also got Bioshock 1 as a pre order bonus, downloading it now (all 12gb of it).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,640 ✭✭✭Pushtrak

I'm thinking of ordering it off amazon.co.uk, the premium version, for £55. The Songbird version is fairly expensive, isn't it? I need to get a new phone soon, so not going to spend the kind of money the Songbird one was asking for.

Gamesnash have it here for 49.99 http://gamesnash.ie/index.php?main_page=advanced_search_result&search_in_description=1&zenid=ibbl73h5fc9f4idt5o3a2vc9v2&keyword=bioshock+infinite&x=0&y=0

I got a few games off them a day early, the rest on release day.

I'm a bit skeptical of this. Will be waiting for some reviews. Bioshock 1 was class. Never played the 2nd one but have it in my download list from PSN so should give it a lash at some point.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,139 ✭✭✭Red Crow

Bioshock 2 was class as well.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,660 ✭✭✭COYVB

Bioshock 2 was class as well.

Ah it was a bit disappointing. Nowhere near the first game. But, then, it wasn't Irrational at the helm.

Anyway, this one is good having played it for 4 hours, but I'm not 100% sure it's going to be the game some are expecting

Did you get a review copy or something? it's not out til the end of March.

So it doesn't really play like Bioshock 1 or 2?

It's a sequel though. The first game is always going to be the best. I thought it was a very good game. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Played a slightly less than finished version at an event last month (the stuff that was missing I wouldn't have had a chance to see in the time i was playing anyway apparently)

It's hard to explain really. It's a good game, the level design is solid, the visuals are lovely (except i'm unconvinced by the frame rate) and the setup and story i played is decent... there were just too many enemies to shoot in the face at any given time really - and some of them are REALLY bullet spongey

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

I've been playing bioshock 1 and 2 on the PS3, and there are some serious frame rate issues./ More so in 1 than 2, hope thats not the case in infinite.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,660 ✭✭✭COYVB

I wouldn't say there were any issues with slowdown or anything like that, as such, really. It's more that the whole thing didn't feel like it was running as smoothly as I would have liked. Technically, I remember reading that it DOES actually run around 60FPS, it just doesn't feel anything like it. Perhaps it's just down to slightly jerky animations or something

The PS3 version is apparently worse than the 360 version.
    http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/xbox-360-vs-ps3-face-off-round-15-article?page=2
And for BioShock 2, things had improved over the first, but here's more specifics on that: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-bioshock2-face-off-article?page=3

BioShock 2 is a great game. It isn't as good as the first, the story was a lot better there, in my opinion. They did add some nice gameplay elements to it, though. They really didn't need to add multiplayer to it.

Doesn't look system demanding at all! pretty game but no where near Crysis 3 level of detail and scope, i'm sure the finished product will run very well on a average pc with medium settings.
Can't speak for xbox360 and ps3 as far as i'm concerned those systems are relics!

Anyone know when the review embargo ends?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 55,572 ✭✭✭✭Mr E

I believe it's Thursday at 9pm Pacific (which is Friday morning at 5am our time).
That's the time IGN are posting their review, anyway.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,835 ✭✭✭✭cloud493

IGN mentioned slow down In the 360 version.

If you add the bundle to your basket using a uk proxy and pay via paypal, it'll cost you £23.99, for which paypal charged €29.09 on my card. Took me a few attempts to make it work, but it went through eventually.

There's absolutely no justification for the €8 difference in price given that this is a digital copy. By their logic €1 = £.64 instead of the £.85 it is in reality. (Paypal gave me £.82)

Fantastic deal all the same, I picked up Civ 5.

Nice job, i wish i knew this afew hours ago!.
one thing though, how safe is it entering paypal passwords and what not through a proxy ?. anyones iv ever used have warned not to enter any sensitive info through them, although i havnt used many, maybe theres more secure ones if you know where to look, or if its a paid for proxy.

As has been said, you don't need to. I'd say you should, not even on the basis of getting more out of Infinite, but just on the basis the games are worth playing.

Worse than that... IGN have exclusive rights to first review - which I really don't like the idea of. The actual embargo isn't up until Monday :(

Giving out exclusive rights to the first review is a bit tacky, especially since IGN wouldn't be my favourite source! I just glanced at the final paragraph of their Review in Progress thought and it's positive. I know very little about the game and I'm trying to keep it that way, I just want to make sure it lives up to the first two.

Anyone know of a good per order deal for the Xbox?
Was looking at GameStop and they're €55 for the steel case edition.
Amazon are €45 for the regular version.

D'oh! Yup 45's not too bad but I'm still tempted by the steel box edition.
Don't think I'd fork out for the Songbird edition or €65 for the limited edition.

Gamersgate.co.uk has same deal for £30, slightly cheaper and they also offer about £8 worth of store credit as well.

I tried that but gave up.
Got my paypal account limited twice and then greenmangaming would remove the bundle I wanted from my cart anytime I put it in.
Killed the VPN and gave them their extra €8 in the end.
Still better than the steam preorder I went for just before greenman added xcom.

What's with the crazy deals with bioshock infinite?! The game will sell well on its own, got the gmg one, didn't know about gamersgate!

They added this page after that page. Click buy and you get to pick your games :P

I went ahead and bought it on GamersGate, it was €36.58 through Paypal if anyone wants the exact price. Also comes with Industrial Revolution though it wasn't clear.

You can pre-order on amazon and get the code for the web game.......... then cancel the order if people are looking for it for the goodies, didn't cancel my order as they seem to be the cheapest if im willing to wait a few days.

Works out at €29.29 on PayPal, that is an awesome price however I just purchased it and they won't release the activation code until 26/03/2013 01:01 AM British Time, which means you can't pre-load it.

Does it really matter? You'll get it quick enough.
I got it too from there a couple of weeks ago. I don't really care that I can't preload it.

Haven't played Bioshock 2, but did anyone else thing the original game was incredibly over-rated? The combat system was awful, trying to aim and shoot accurately was nigh on impossible and ruined the entire game for me. I could never understand how it was so well received.

Just got an email from them with a code for a free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown and a choice of a free game of either Mafia II, Civilization V or The Darkness 2! And a code for BioShock Infinite Industrial Revolution mini puzzle game. All for €29.29, bargain!
