What are the legalities regarding exotic pets in Ireland ie Spider Monkeys, Tigers and animals like that.
Is there a certain license you need to own one?
And what would be the logistics of getting one into the country, are there breeders in the country? Or would you have to import one, or go over and get one abroad, and bring it back

As long as you have relevent paper work cites etc and the animals are housed securly thats about it but you do require a licence for a Dog and documentation for livestock such as cows, pigs etc afaik. You maybe be suprised by some of the animals kept by people in Ireland. In Northern Ireland however you would need a DWA (Dangerous Wild Animals Licence). Tigers especially would require a large amount of land, permission to build on the theres the up keep and possible vets bills. I know theres plenty of small Exotics lemurs, snakes, lizards, spiders, fish, birds most of which would have to be imported but theres are breeders especially reptiles, birds and fish in Ireland.

D4 got it in one there.BUT one thing I will add is that there is gonna be an exotics licence here within the next few years.. its already in the pipeline but as it is they do noit have the money or training to implementit yet.
But do not worry as it will not be a severe as people may think.. sure it will be more expensive than a dog licence BUT at the end of the day they are a more specialised pet and it is well worth it in the long run.. Any questions feel free to ask and i can help you as much as i can. as will others on here.
