Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi there,
Let me explain, I'm on JA (although I haven't received any money, I've just been means tested). I'm going on holiday next month the the US.

As I'm going, I might be given gifts as money as I'm going away for my birthday. Is there any issue that could stop me receiving JA under these circumstances? i.e. if I lodge the money into my bank account will they think that I've started working or something??

Unless your gifts equate to €20,000  (which is the maximum amount of means at your disposal you can have before it impacts on your claim), you should be safe. As you have been means tested, I presume they will not view your bank account statements again. Even if they do, you can explain that is where the money came from - a gift. Open to correction but think that is correct.

If the gifts are payment in exchange for work you will have to declare them.
If the gifts are from friends and family you have nothing to worry about.

Awesome guys, thanks a lot.... I somehow don't think I'll be getting 20,000!
