Does anyone know if it's possible to buy large headed carnation seeds or plants?

Years ago, I could buy them in florists but I don't see them anymore. All I see are the small headed carnation plants.

I'd really appreciate any help at all. Thanks guys! :)

They are often called single carnations as against spray carnations. Have a look in the seed stands. You will probably find you have to disbud them - remove all flower buds except the central one, for a single larger flower. The ones you get in florists' shops have been grown in specialised conditions, so you are not going to get the exact same effect in the garden.

Single carnations are available to buy, and you could buy a few flowers, remove all the side shoots (pull down at the stem) and plant them (the side shoots) in compost then cover with plastic bags until they root. They are very easy to propagate like that.
