Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi
I'm going back to college this year doing a part-time masters. I already receive jobseekrs allowance every week but am wondering is there a benefit of some sort you can get for going back to college? I think it's called back-t-education- grant. Or would this not apply to me as I'm only going back part-time?
    Cheers for any replies :)

You're not entitled to anything -- no JSA, no Back to Education(only allowed for a H-Dip).

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

You can't get any social welfare payment if you are in reciept of another, funny I couldn't claim jobseekers benefit/allowance when I was doing my degree part-time, it was 6 hours a week in the evenings! So I'd definately double check that unless things have changed drastically which I very much doubt!!

It's very likely with that crowd the person you spoke to hasn't a clue, you don't want someone who does comming along cutting you off without warning.

BTEA and grants are only available for full time students. You won't receive either because your course is part time - You can continue to claim dole and you can claim taxback on the fees see www.revenue.ie for details

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

You can also claim JSA/JSB if you are doing a masters by research (e.g. thesis only in your own time with no lectures to attend/requirement to be in college)

Colleges are required to submit the registration details of all full-time students to the Dept. of Social Protection.
