Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Is the match any good?

    Come on you Spurs

If Spurs don't win this match they'll be kicking themselves, really hard.

City look like they've thrown away about £200 million on the new recruits.

The only City player with any class and who cares in Tevez.

Defo... Tevez looks like the only City player worth £10 million plus never mind £20s - 30s.. The rest looking very ordinary so far. Yaya looks like a joke! How much did they spend on him???

It will take Silva some time to adjust I reckon but he has been very poor so far!!

3 weeks to gel together? I don't buy that at all.

Lol just thinking the same thing myself they will have to make huge improvements in the next 3 weeks to be title contenders on this performance.

12 shots on target and no goal....

Why is SWP in the squad, let alone on the pitch and not Bellamy or Ireland.

Of course they are going to look ordinary. What does Mancini expect when he sends out a team packed with 3 holding midfielders? That's not a set up that looks to retain possession and create chances, it invites pressure and that's exactly what Spurs have done. Mancini is just doing what we knew he does from last season, play a defensive brand of football that lacks any sort of creativity other than chances on teh break.

    Zabaleta for Richards.
    Johnson for SWP.
    Lescott for Kompany.

I think that is what needs to happen.

Any other City fans here in agony watching this match:mad:

I'm in a bar with about 40 other City fans and every one of us is goin mental at this sh*t. Richards and SWP need to go cause everything is coming through Bale

Hart has been immense no matter what some folk have said in this thread.

Kinda game where we'll nick one against the run of play.

Good thing he has a player like Ireland to link play up.

    No wait, sorry.

Agreed, its just disheartening in fairness.

Joe Hart could be doing Arsenal and Shay Given a huge favour here with this performance.

Although in saying that, it looks like Mark Schwarzer might be on his way to the Emirates.

Why Johnson didnt start I really dont know. Much better than SWP so far. Richards could do with being subbed also. City desperately need someone to put their foot on the ball in the middle of the pitch. Nobody on the bench to change that though.

The only people who are really surprised by this performance are people who think that players make teams. It's going to take a while for City to gel, no doubt about it.

Right I don't often do this but you really have to question Mancini's formation and selections.

Yaya Toure, De Jong and Barry like wtf? You can see how deep Tevez is coming to look for the ball and that means City have no striker.

Why is SWP in ahead of Adam Johnson?

And of course related to the first question, how can you leave Adebayor on the bench?

Tottenham are the type of team that love to come at you and if you let them do it all day, they will bury you more often than not. Its the teams that stop them playing and press high up the pitch that give them problems.

Great match to get the season started. Spurs playing amazing football. Should be ahead. Bale continuing his unbelievably good form.

Hope the second half is as good.

Oh yeah, forgot about this one when I posted. Zabaleta on the bench and Richards starting seems mental to me too.

I agree with the rest of your post which I've edited out by the way.

    .

    agreed.

It's hard to understand why Adam Johnson is not playing. Also City like you say have too many holding players through the middle. There no point having a "crazy talent" if he is going to be living off scraps.
What are the odd on Roberto being sacked by Christmas? I know the team need time to gel but with no player in the mould of Stephen Ireland in the team i can't see them doing much this season.

    Not hard when it's SWP!
    Or when you're Peter Crouch.

Stuck a few bob on city to win at half time - classic Italian style away win.

Why did Boateng and Johnson not start?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,148 ✭✭✭✭Raskolnikov

SWP is having an especially poor game here.

"Joe Hart has made some of the most incredible saves" thus speaketh an Irish fella on the BBC radio commentary.

Harte has been good and made saves that you would expect from a good keeper . . Not surprised, just pointing out that he has done nothing more then should be expected of him (if indeed he has the potential some are saying here!) . .

Given would of made the same saves as none of them were particularly difficult . . . Great, so Harte has so far done what should be the minimum expected of a keeper keeping Given out of nets . .
