So Lillies is having a "charity" night in support of St Francis Hospice:
Lillie's Bordello hostess Hayley Rock is helping organise a charity event for the St Francis Hospice, which cares for people in the advanced stages of cancer and motor neuron disease.

She has revealed how one of her oldest pals, Emma Louise Walsh, passed away from cancer in May when she was just 27 years old. The fundraising night will be held on Sunday, which would have been her 28th birthday.

    Very laudable i'm sure
So Bono is apparantly a friend of hers
Having worked at the club for the past five years, Hayley has built up an enviable collection of contacts and now counts the U2 frontman as a close colleague.

"I would know him from being in the club so much and we would have built up a very good relationship over the years," she said.

Good stuff..a man with 300 million quid in the bank onside for a good cause.
    So he,in his charity:
"He was more than happy to help us out by giving him a pair of his sunglasses, which was so nice of him."

Yep,folks..a pair of sunglasses..what an absolute saint.

A fraction of his personal wealth could buy the centre several times over so he donates a pair of shades he doesnt wear any more.

And it really looks like a night you dont want to miss because
Loads of our usual regulars will be coming as well as a few of the girls from the agency, it looks like it will be a fantastic night," she added.

Better and better...is it just me or does the whole thing reek of a cynical attempt to revive a flagging business using a cast-off from a tax-dodger as the bait??

What a fiend, worse than Hitler so he is. In fact if you got Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Mel Gibson and the devil and blended them together, the sludgy aftermath wouldn't contain even a quarter the of evil that radiates from Bono.

And knowing Bono he'll probably decide he didn't actually give them away in the first place..........

If he paid his tax in the first place then maybe the hospice wouldn't have to go looking for charity handouts.

Or maybe Anglo-Irish would've sucked it all into their black hole.

That would just devalue any future sunglasses he donates.

Yea of course it's daft Degs. Standard operational procedure though. You'll hear someone like the pope go on about the poor while he sleeps in silk sheets surrounded by Raphaels. How many lives would the cost of his daily vestments save? The Dalai Lama travels the world in 5 star hotels feted by the great and the good, yet seeks to reestablish a feudal theocracy with him at the head while doing so(I met him once and the I got one helluva bad vibe off the man). Like you say, Bono or any number of his rich rock/movie icon fellows witter on at the rest of us about feeding/saving the world and yet they pray at the feet of Mammon on a daily basis watching their interest returns go up. And this surprises you?

The Italian lad machiavelli spoke of the effective truth. The real actuality of what is going on when people talk. The BS that is spoken. Its all around us. The examples I gave above can be joined by many many more, yet we, or at least most believe the BS. Look behind the BS and see it for what it is. Bono is at least one of the more obvious examples. I suspect he really believes he makes a difference and he does. More than many, but his difference is in stark contrast to his gifts and wealth. I'm reminded of the lad from Galilee and the widow who gave all she had to give. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=mark%2012:41-12:44&version=ESV Muhammad, Krishna and Buddha said similar shít, as did Confucious and many other philosophers. Funny how we either don't do it ourselves or believe the BS of those who claim to do so. Who woulda thought that Jesus, Machiavelli and Degsy would be in agreement :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

Exactly..he saves millions in tax at the expense of the Health service..specialised cancer units are being closed becauise the govt's falling tax revenues so his conscience moves him to donate a pair of sunglasses...

There's a special place in hell for people like him.

Yep, but none of us here are claiming to be better, claiming to be examples. We may be indolent sods looking on the sidelines, but we're not saying we're referees. :)

I dunno wtf is wrong with Bono.

If i was worth 300m, i couldnt give 2 flying Degsys if it suddenly went down to 200m as a result of my generous donations to helpful causes. Loike come on, who would notice a difference between 300m in wealth and 200m, you'd still be filthy rich!!
