Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Been there 5 times without a doubt the best thing to do is rent a car and drive around the island esp into the mountains, and the north of the island.

The best places to eat imo is el patio beside fado rock and the Carribean restaurant which is near el patio.

Being honest nightlife isn't great its mostly bars only one real club which is a bit dodgy tbh, the place is great for couples though with good restaurants etc.

    Hope this helps.

If you rent a car definitely visit the beaches on the opposite side of the island, beautiful black beaches that look amazing at sunset. There's a village called Betincuria which is beautiful and the road into it was terrifying! It's worth visiting Corralejo, it has a nice harbour and nearby white sand beaches (watch out for nudists!) Morro Jable is at the other end of the island, more upmarket than Caleta. There is a coastal path through the lunar landscape to Nuevo Horizonte/Costa Antigua, the walk is better than the destination, there used to be a weird swimming pool public complex which is worth a look if nothing else!

I'm heading there soon for the first time, thanks for all the recommendations so far. I'll do a little bit of windsurfing, but not much, so any other recommendations for restaurants/bars/shopping would be appreciated. Are there any other "must see" sights on the island?

You can also rent ATVs to go across the dunes in if you'd like! I was there a number of years ago so any restaurant reccomendations I could make would probably be pretty much useless now!!! One thing I would advise though is to try the local cuisine, Yummy Canarian potatoes and sausage!
