Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm going to be in Kuala Lumpur for a week, starting tomorrow.

What are the must do things?

    Tips?

    Places to avoid?

    Any info appreciated. Cheers.

Sorry for hijacking your thread but Illl be having a stopover in KL for 5 hours, just wondering is food / drink expensive in the airport. How much should I change into Malaysian currency to cover two meals and some drinks. Thanks

    - Visit the petronas towers (formally the worlds highest building)
    - Wander around Chinatown and eat at the hawker places/market stalls. Cheap and cheerful.
    - Go drinking in the golden triangle!
    - Visit Lake Gardens Park

    Enjoy!! It's a great city.

    Go to the BATU caves
Go to the animal reserve just outside KL, I hugged a big Sun bear and fed him honey..amazing experience.
    Chinatown for bargains
Theres an Irish pub called Finnegans...good spot

Use your credit card think the minimum transaction is very low ... else there are plenty of currency booths so no need to plan ahead ... should be no bother.

Couple of tips off the top of my head.

Main tourist spots: KLCC, KL Tower, Batu Caves, Chinatown and Central Market, Bukit Bintang, Lake Gardens / Butterfly / Deer park.

Shopping: Pavillion, KLCC, Sungai Wang, IT - Low Yat Plaza.

Night-life: Changat Bukit Bintag has lots of pubs and clubs, try Skybar in Traders for an unforgettable view with your beer. Try karaoke with a few jugs of beer - Green Box in Sungai Wang for example. Most pubs are expensive if you are on a budget drink beer at Jln. Alor or similar.

Off the beaten track: Wander around Pudu and try hawker food, Skytrex/Biking at Taman Pertanian (you'll need a taxi there and back), climb Broga hill early in the morning (bring a spare t-shirt - and again you'll need a taxi there and back).

Easy to miss: Lot 10 Hutong (downstairs at Lot 10) - authentic hawker food ... lots to try, Jalan Alor - loads of very cheap food and beer, try the seafood, satay and wings at Wong ah Wah ... Spin out to Mid-Valley mega-mall for shopping or Bangsar in the evening for food / drink.

Avoid or Enjoy ;-0: The ladies and ladyboys of the night at most venues on Jln P Ramlee.

Avoid outright: Most of the museums are avoidable, don't tip, make the taxi put on a meter or just get another one (don't pick one up outside a mall/tourist spot ... find one a little away to avoid this), don't pay 'monks' a cent ....

    Enjoy it's a great place ....
