Can someone tell me how to do this section of an exam I an studying for?

    > Dijo ________________________________________…

Unfortunately, we can't be doing tus deberes for you nor are we a free translation service.

But I'm guessing the idea is the translate it so the statement is impersonal, or it's being observed.

    So that first sentence:

¿Cuándo robaron los coches? La semana pasada, ¿verdad?

When did they steal the cars? Last week, correct?

    Becomes:

    Preguntó _______________________________

    He asked _______________________________

So to finish that off, I would say you'd need:

He asked when the cars were stolen and if it happened last week.

Or something along those lines. And obviously, in Spanish. :D

    Hope that helps, :)

Oh i'm not expecting them to be done for me. I'm just trying to establish what tenses they get tranferred to in spanish as there are so many tenses. That is where I am struggling mainly.

I would hazard a guess that the statements are being changed to the impersonal passive form (the se ____ form)

So, instead of saying "When did they rob the cars?" , you would say "He asked when were the cars stolen...?". (that doesn't sound grammatically correct in English but I know it makes sense in Spanish)

Same for the second one, "Did you (usted) leave the window open this morning?" changes to "She asked was the window left open this morning"

The tenses usually don't change, it's making sure you get the subject right. Here is an example not related to your questions:

Perdió las llaves: He lost the keys
Se perdieron las llaves: The keys were lost.

Note the change of subject here because las llaves is plural.

Use of "Se" removes the active voice and changes it to the passive.

I could be completely wrong but that's what it looks like to me.
