Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

So, the parents are getting skype setup to talk to family all over the world. Now we need to get a webcam and some sort of microphone setup.

Komplett dont have a great range, neither do pixmania, so can anyone recommend a good webcam and headset to get? Budget is as little as possible, maybe sub €50. I dont want to get absolute ****e, but still I dont think we wanna be paying for high end stuff either!

    Cheers.

picked up a three of these ones a few weeks ago on amazon - they work perfectly. PLug and play so anyone can use them straight out of the box. Skype only supports 2 person video calling( from what i know) but these webcams work perfect.

The in-built mikes are also very good - i was surprised how good they are in general for 20 euro.
Free delivery on over 25 pounds, got them delivered to Dublin in about 3 days.

Logitech are the way to go. Do you want privacy, cause if not, there's no need for a mic with modern webcams as they're integrated and work quite well.

    + 1 for Logitech.

Love the ClearChat Pro headset (wired).

Well I was thinking about a headset coz if I was just using the PC speakers and a separate mic, then I'd guess there'd be some feedback. Would it not be similar with an integrated webcam mic?

I like that logitech headset above. Would it cost much more to get a wireless/bluetooth one?

The wireless one is Approx 80 - 100 bucks but you have the hassle of trying to keep it charged. Not worth the money IMO.

The lead on the ClearChat Pro is very long & if you want to use video you're going to be in front of the PC anyway?

They're usually directional mics and as the cam points the same way as the speakers you should be fine.

Also, 80-100 is hugely exaggerated. You could get a single ear bluetooth headset for 30-40, though its probably unnecessary.

I was referring to the Logitech ClearChat Pro wireless headset and I doubt you'll find it new anywhere for under 60 Stg plus delivery. Nothing exaggerated about it.
