Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I can see the team Mitch picked starting tonight. Because if feel Fergie will see if Carrick can kick on from the Chelsea game. Also can see Chicharito coming on for Rooney after he scores and him a Berba torment the toon for the final half hour or so

3-0 to United I think tbh.

Andy Carroll to score a hattrick!

Ah, United had some great demolitions of Newcastle over the years, alot of them came over the last decade, favourite had to be 6-2 away, Jenas opener, Olé equalizer, Scholes hatrick a Giggs tap in (which should have been a great O'Shea goal) and a Ruud Van Nistelrooy penalty.

Then Barthez make an awful cock up with his clearence to which Ameobi (I think that's how you spell his name) scored.

But still my favourite of all our matches with them.

Just in case someone missed it. Monday night soccer is returning to sky sports tonight. That's monday night soccer. Returns. Sky sports.

United start seasons slowly so I think they'll win 1-0 with a goal from a corner or set piece.

I for one welcome the return of regular matches with Newcastle, they brought us memories such as:

Im in two minds on this game. Man U are typically slow starters so theres hope for Newcastle. If Man U are on form Newcastle will struggle to get anything from the game. There is 0 pressure on Newcastle in the game so that may also play a part.

    My prediction

2:0 to Man U with Toon having a stone wall penalty turned down at 0-0 :)

Looking forward to this game now . .

Hope its not 0-0 after all the buildup ! ! !

Rooney has to get a hatrick with 3 assists from Valencia and a clean sheet for John O'Shea and my fantasy dreamteam will go from Chumps to legends in the space of 90mins ! !

    Come on united the fk!!!

How much does MUTV cost now and is it worth it ?

Just watching it now and the quality seems to be far better than in the past.

Subscribed for about 8 years but dropped it a couple of years back.

    8 euro i think.

I think it is worth it, but then I love to watch the academy and reserve team games and the programs focused on those sides. Extended highlights of all the senior games is a big part of it all though, obviously.

#MUFC team: VDS; O'Shea, Vidic, Evans, Evra; Valencia, Fletcher, Scholes, Nani; Rooney, Berba. No Owen in squad

#NUFC team v #MUFC: Harper, Perch, Collocini, Williamson, Enrique, Smith, Gutierrez, Barton, Routledge, Nolan, Carroll
    _________________

Very surprised to see Evra starts without any preseason at all. Was certain it would be Raf at RB and O'Shea at LB.

Kuszczak, Giggs, Smalling, Hernandez, Carrick, Rafael, Macheda on the bench.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,161 ✭✭✭✭M5

Rooney and the Toon fan up top for manu!

Newcastle as expected 4411/451 with nolan in the hole, Bit 1 dimensional, going to be a defensive setup. Perch may be a liability

VDS, JOS, Vidic, Evans, Evra, Valencia, Fletcher, Scholes, Nani, Rooney, Berbatov

    Team:

    VDS

    O'Shea - Vidic - Evans - Evra

    Valencia - Fletcher - Scholes - Nani

    Rooney - Berbatov

Edit: Gray with his stupid ****ing machines.

    Thanks Mitch

First choice (injuries noted) MAN Utd starting 11 , Strongest team available IMO
should have enough to start the campaign with a home win .

C'mon Rooney, justify my choosing you over Drogba in my fantasy team.

    Glazers Out!

Can maybe understand the decision. Would've put Perch there as CB but Ryan Taylor is dodgy defensively.

Barton and Smith in midfield. Will certainly add a bit of bite but both are big liabilities and are the type of players who can cost us a game. Fingers crossed it doesn't happen.

Barton may behave, think he might be under the microscope for the season. Only man who can pick a good pass in our side though.

Ryan Taylor can do it but only really from set pieces though. Routledge blows hot and cold. There's no inbetween. I admire his spirit but he's untested in these waters.
