Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Hmmm, thought we were comfortable despite Man U's dominance up to the goal, all over the place since. shoddy. Heads are down. Should not be giving up so easily, thats disappointing more than the performance. Chris has work to do at half time. If Man U were on form it would be 4:0

Newcastle are very, very poor. It's going to be a long season for them.

    Nani looks very dangerous.

    Much more effective.

because he gets into good positions, correction, Utd give him the ball in good positions, doesn't mean he's been more effective.

bar one half decent cross to the back post he's wasted almost everything.

utd have strolled this and haven't even created that much.

    very impressive and clinical though.

Jesus could've been so different if Carroll had buried that header!!
I've Rooney and Valencia in my ff team too.

Still two nil is about fair for possession we've had

    Chico on for Berba please.

Are you kidding me . . Berbs is actually enjoying the game . . Leave him on and take off a knackered Rooney after 60 or 70 ! !

Save for the emergence of your man Perch, who is doing a job, and Williamson, Newcastle dont look up to much.

Collicini and Enrique are really very poor, and will be made muck of on a regular basis. Barton looks ok, but the midfield looks sluggish, even though it could be imposing. Iv forgotten why I didnt want Routledge at West Ham United. However, today I have been reminded. He is lightning quick, but thats it.

Carroll cannot continue to play unsupported. He is being suffocated.

United have started to carve them up since the goals. It maybe early season but catching chelski 6 goals is important. Go 4-3-3 second half and get a hat full

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,590 ✭✭✭jaykay74

Newcastle should have scored a couple of times. Lots of sloppiness from Utd in the first third of the pitch. a better team than Newcastle would have scored from a couple of those situations as well as the header fro mCarroll form the corner. Utd fortunate to be 2 up. Good to see that Newcastle are shaky at the back. Hopefully Utd to cruise from here and get 2 more but Utd could yet concede and open the game up again.

Scholes was brilliant in that first half. Really is England's version of Xavi.

Have to say I know Rooney's heading has improved in the last couple of seasons but it looks like his shooting with his right foot has got alot worse.

Borderline offside ? WTF, he was 3 yards onside clearly ! ! Oh Andy, even with the technology you can make something of nothing . .

What's the difference between the Toon defence and a taxi driver?

A taxi driver will only let in four at a time.

    :D

Why does Rooney ever get near the ball for a free-kick around the box?

    He is terrible at them.

Good show from United. I'm very impressed with Valencia's tracking back, he took possession from Newcastle 3 times in the first half. Scholes has been superb. I really enjoyed that time Vidic defended against Gutierrez, he really shut him down and Gutz is a very tricky player tbf.

I thought that they were going to have a problem breaking Newcastle down after watching the first 15 minutes but they fell into the trap of defending deeper and deeper and that will never work against United. In fairness to Newcastle they have a pretty decent midfield. I think Nani really doesn't fit in that United team, he has huge talent but I don't think you get the best out of Evra attacking wise when Nani is on the left.

Dont worry, it will happen for Rooney . .

He looked knackered in the world cup and got a fair old more amount of time off . . In truth he is only as fit as most players after 2 or 3 pre season games and he looks it . . In time he will be back on top, dont you worry about that . .

Eagle eye, Nani is indeed an enigma . . He is actually much much better on the right hand side (even though I think he is more a left sided player). . Just a shame him and Valencia dont play oppposite wings . .

Berba looks quite happy as it is, Rooney needs to score, Rooney needs to stay on.

Nani created the second goal imo, great ball. He's played some nice passes. Just because he hasn't scored doesn't mean he hasn't played well. He hasn't been outstanding, but he's been far from poor.

I know he's not 100% match fit but even towards the end of last season his shooting was bloody awful. I say atleast 4-5 times a game now you see him launch shots miles into the stand.

    What do we think? 4-1

My God could United have got an easier start to the season than at home to Newcastle. The Premiership the World's most competive league indeed.
