The Tánaiste Mary Coughlan announced, on 5 August 2010 an additional €12 million funding under the Labour Market Activation Fund to support education and training programmes for at least 5,000 additional unemployed people.

Unlike last year where they were mainly postgrad, this year they are at level 6 to 8.

There is a mad rush to get things in place by the providers as the funding was released so late in the day with the new terms starting in less than 4 weeks. The information is meant to be available on www.qualifax.ie but is still not uploaded.

The courses I have found so far are:

    www.dit.ie/upskill

    http://www.ncirl.ie/News/Free_College_Places_for_Unemployed

If anyone else has information on the new courses, please leave a reply.

    Thanks
