Sligo Weekender publishing nonsense

The Sligo Weekender has stopped publishing Community Notes on its website and replaced them with potted descriptions of various villages.

    Two examples:
Rathcormac: St. Colmcilles Church is also situated in the centre of the village were mass is celebrated weekly. Wow! Mass celebrated in Catholic Church! What next? One legged ducks swim in circles?

Grange: In 1588 Perez De Quellar and a large contingent of Spanish sailors were shipwrecked at nearby Streedagh Strand. Some of the Spaniards settled and there are still some handsome swarthy faces in the general area. This garbage about people in the West of Ireland having Spanish blood was disproved long ago but still gets trotted out by the ignorant and uneducated. Why not claim that small dark Westerners are descendants of the Fir Bolg?

So why is the Weekender filling its website with stuff that seems to have been put together by a (none-too-bright) Junior Cert student?
