Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

if i want to record over 4.7gb on a blank DVD, what kind of dvd do i need?
Is it the dual layer DVD?
Will my existing dvd burning software work with this kind of dvd?

Not too sure I understand you. You can record/burn files to any blank dvd as long as you have the burner and the software.

If you have a DVD-RW you can "record over" this type of disk. If you've a blank DVD+/-R you can use any software to burn files to it. I'd recommend using ImgBurn.

your standard blank dvd allows you only to burn 4.7gb....
dual layer allows larger i think....

He means more than 4.7GB on a disc.

OP, you need a Dual Layer capable burner and DL discs to burn up to 8.5G to a disc. Your existing software most likely supports this already.

OP, yes, a dual layer DVD will be needed if you want > 4.7GB on a disk. You don't say what your existing software is. Does your burner drive support DL ?

[I've never used them myself BTW]

    Ah right! Sorry OP :o.

As mentioned before you'll need the burner, the disk and the software to burn to a dual layer.

This, http://www.ehow.com/how_5118036_burn-double-layer-dvd.html, goes through the process using Nero as the software. But I'm sure if you choose the type DVD-9 as the burn type it'll work (also provided you have the disk. I'm not 100% sure that the burner will matter.)

Here's the process for burning with ImgBurn.
