    Lunchtime Tour

    Visit the National Print Museum to explore the ancient world of printing for a special tour as part of Heritage Week. Begin a journey of discovery through the history of printing from the inventions of Johann Gutenberg to the early modern technology. Learn how books were composed entirely by hand for centuries until the invention of the setting machines like the Linotype. Discover the technological developments in printing machines from the wooden presses of Gutenberg’s time, to the more complicated machines like the Heidelberg. Uncover the story of the printing of the 1916 Proclamation and examine the original on display in the Museum.
