Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm looking for a virtual PC download for XP to run an installation of windows with IE6 for testing.

I can't for the life of me find a download for XP, only Windows 7.

    Anyone know of a link?

Should be on MSDN, but it will only work for XP Pro or Enterprise editions.

They recently launched Windows Virtual PC" to replace Virtual PC 2007" - thats what you wanted:

Doesnt work like that. Virtual pc(xp) on windows 7 is a preconfigured xp Os running the app. You need virtual pc as Overheal says, plus some xp install discs and licenses.

You'd think they'd just free-license their older OSs by now. Not Open-source, just freeware.

There does seem to be one convoluted option that is install virtualbox. Install ubuntu (or such) and wine so you can run windows apps and then install IE6. To be honest you might be as well off picking up and old second hand desktop on adverts or such and using it for testing.

Way more complicated than it needs to be. Microsoft have made it very easy, they've released free images of XP and Vista for web developers to test IE6 and 7. They're time-limited to a few months, but more than sufficient, and you can just re-download whenever it runs out.

You can download Virtual PC 2007 here. Then you can download the images here (if that 2nd link doesn't work, do a Google search for "IE App Compat VHD"). I just go for IE6 (and IE7 if you need it) on XP SP3, no need for the Vista ones unless you really need it

First one only runs on XP, and isn't being maintained. 2nd one is alpha software. They are options, but a virtual PC is far and away a better one if there's no reason you can't use it. Don't have to worry about possible conflicts with current installation, and can wipe it very simply.
