Excellent from both sides, tough one for Kildare,

How? The player was being fouled in the first place!

Come on Cork, they will not have the same amount of wides and hopefully Spillane will highlight the sheer thuggery going on by Down. Kildare were robbed today and should have had a penalty in the end.

Kildare were robbed simple as and Down are nothing but lowlife scumbags.

Just because he was being fouled doesn't mean he has the right to take 10 or 11 steps with the ball. He was being fouled outside the box so why didn't he get the free?

Have to agree probably would have been a penalty?

Down the best team overall on the day

This just proves that the GAA don't give a flying F******88 about players or fans. How many more games are going to be deceided by incompetent officiating before the GAA get the finger out and empress 21st centuary technology:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

I think he means the eight steps he took before shooting. Great game, hard luck Kildare, well done Down.

Hard luck to Kildare. Nearly did it .. :( Exciting end, which hasnt been the norm in GAA this year, which has been bad enough...

Cork wont fancy Down in the final, especially in the form that they themselves are in ... i.e. inconsistent. I would nearly fancy Down to win it...

That's very harsh on Down, Kildare's goal was very doubtful too- and they went to ground very easily knowing they'd get a free from the Monaghan blower.

Down win is a fair result.

Get over it! Seriously, there is no need to call any players scumbags or thugs.

That was some finish, an inch or two lower and Kildare were in the final. Unreal. Down will certainly be giving cork alot of headaches in the final after that performmance. They certainly are playing better that I thought they would. for kildare they really gave it everything and can take great pride from the match.

The GAA are out all year to stop Kerry and any team they decided were not to win, they robbed Kildare and they are assisting Down all the way, Walsh was sent of for Kerry against them for nothing.

The GAA top brass are some bástards the way they are destroying the game. Louth robbed, Kerry robbed by the CCCC, now Kildare.

I was neutral, and before the game was hoping that Down would get to the All Ireland Final.

However its a sad state of affairs to see the officials being so involved in the result of the game. Kildare had a point signaled wide, Down had a square ball allowed for a goal and Kildare should have had a penalty, which Pat (who in my opinion is the best ref in the country) chickened out on and gave a hop ball at the end. The Down player touched the ball on the ground, then lay over it, and then knocked the ball away with his hand while still on the ground.

I thought Down were the better team for most of the game, but really it was an injustice that Kildare were found themselves with a 4 point handicap and a penalty against them.

p.s The Kildare goal was definitly overcarried, however it probably should have been a penalty anyway for the pull on the jersey.

    Dont get this one?

Its a bit like Paul the Octopus in the world cup predicting the games before they are played. There was three bowls with seed in them and the bowls were labelled "Kildare" "Down" and "Draw-Other". The chicken ate the seed out of the Down bowl and he has got all games correct bar the hurling game between Galway and Tipperary where he said that Galway would win but that game was extremely close to call.

Pat Spillane with another stroke of genius
Pat: Kildare lost an AI semi Final because of a terrible umpiring decision.

Joe: To be fair Pat, they didn't lose it solely because of a terrible umpiring decision.

Pat: I never said that

"Dont take it for granted. No team (EXCEPT KERRY) has beaten Cork in championship since 2004. I think the Dublin game will bring on Cork alot. Kildare or Down havent reached an All Ireland final in a while and Cork are highly experienced in this field. "

Your original post no prediction even by "Paul the Octopus" :)

Are GAA empires the most useless waste of space known to man!!!!!!!!!

Replacing them with Traffic cones would be an improvement.

PS: My dad's from Tipp and still finds it hard to talk about last years final which was again decided by another dodgy referring deceison. I'm sick of this sh*t and am seriously considering boycotting next weeks final given the lack of competence among those officiating the game.

It was a chicken in Kildare that predicted Down to win. There's been a few snippets in the news over the week about it.

As a Corkman, I am extremely worried and nervous about this Down performance and worried that Cork will lose another All Ireland in the space of three years. If we dont play similiar to what we played against Tyrone last year, we will get well beaten.

God almighty, Kildare people living up to the name of, Worth losers in the GAA but also the worst winners.

Get on with it, it happens, what about the steps took for the kildare goal?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 730 ✭✭✭squire1

Down were class. I don't care about controversial decisions. Down played to the score on the board. If Kildare were good enough they would have won. Down were great in that game considering they were without their first choice midfielder. I know Kildare were hampered by injury too but Down were able to outclass Kildare in many areas. Their forwards kicked points when the pressure was on and their makeshift midfield outshone kildares makeshift midfield.

It was a game that could have ended up either way. There were controversial scores but there was plenty of time to recover (unlike Leinster final) so it had no bearing on the result.

Come on Down, well done. Hammer Cork and I will be happy.

Totally agree. What kind of dopes do they have as umpires ??? I propose that umpires in future must

    A) Be able to see
    B) Know the rules of football
    C) Cannot be completely and totally stupid F**kers

My sympathies to all Kildare people. Hope though Down go on to beat Cork. Tyrone will win the minors.

If Kildare had scored a goal at the end it would be Louth and Meath all over again Down deserved the win they where the better team

Why does nearly everyone on here want Down to hammer Cork? What are your reasons for that as a matter of interest?
