Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Need help about making training videos

    Hi guys.

I'm going to do a training video for my client of how to use the online consulting management service developed by my company. I have no extra budget to buy a camera so invest if there would any software which can help me to do it.

I've searched in Google and found people called this kind of program "screen recorder", but it's the first time I do it and have no idea where to start. Checked the Computer/Technology FAQ thread but find nothing related.

Is there anyone use these programs before and has any suggestion?

    Thanks guys!

I haven't used them, but people seem to say good things about Camtasia, I think there might be a 30 days trial for free offer. I think you can also record the screen with VLC (the media player).

camtasia is probably the best, I use it and it's a very good / easy to use programme

Thanks bonzodog2 and Tallon. I've just checked Camtasia out. It's pretty cool in usability and cost. I will have a try.

I asked for help in some other computer related forum and some friendly guys share me a comprehensive list of screen recorder at wiki. I think all them would be great and will have a browse.

It's really an excellent idea to develop such kind of program for creating video tutorials. I'm very interested in it and would like to share my thoughts after finishing my work with Camtasia or one of them in that list. Hope there are some one who use it frequently to share some experiences.

Thanks and you are really a big help!

I use Windows Media Encoder http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=5691ba02-e496-465a-bba9-b2f1182cdf24&displaylang=en for putting together screen capture training videos... I find it works well, but it takes a little while to get used to.. It's free as well.

Microsoft have another newer program called Expression Encoder 4 (which also has a free edition), but I havent tried this yet.
