Gas Bill from previous residence

    Not sure what to do at this stage.

    Sold house a few months ago and did all the necessary including ringing Bord Gais to give reading.
    Since then we've been getting bills for Gas supplied AFTER the date that we moved out.
    Bord Gais tried to contact the new owner but no joy.
    They used gas for a few months and then got disconnected.

    So now we're left with a bill for this gas at our new address.

    Our EA that we sold the house with has a record of the reading on the day we moved out.

    Anyone know how to proceed?

    did you not close / transfer your account on the day you moved out ?? If not well your going to be stuck for the bill regardless of what reading you took.

    Yeah we rang them up on the day we moved out with the meter reading.
    We could have closed the account to be sure but then the new owner would have to pay for reconnection so we decided not to sting them.
    Looks like we're the ones who got stung.

    id be ringing up and demanding to speak to a manager you might be surprised where you get.

    Did you change the name on the account on the day you moved out?
    If its still in your name then you're still liable AFAIK.
